What is happening in Hong Kong?
13 01 2010So what’s been happening in Hong Kong since December. A lot actually! First Shaun and Karen came to visit all the way from London. We haven’t seen them for a whole year so it was really good to see them again after such a long time. They went traveling for a month before coming to HK. Karen practically came running through the airport when she saw me! We obviously did a whole lot of sightseeing. All of which I have seen before but didn’t mind going again.
We spent a lot of time traveling around HK, going up the peak, seeing the Buddha, etc..
We ate some great desserts! Rode a cable car with a glass floor
We had such a great time and I had very sore feet!! Yikes! Too much walking around. Karen and Shaun loved it in Hong Kong. We were very sad to see them go!
Next up, Christmas! Morne flew to London just before Christmas and was due back on the 23rd. Then it started snowing in London. I was so worried that his plane would be grounded. And I would have to spend Christmas on my own! But he made it, thank goodness! Josephine came over on Christmas day. I made a cracking dinner! Chicken, gammon, pumpkin fritters (pampoenkoekies), broccoli, roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings. Josephine is in love with my roast!!! She loved it so much and ate two plates of food! More than I did! Since then, she keeps asking for another roast! hahha!!
Calypso had her Christmas outfit on.
Morne enjoyed Christmas day a little too much….
Morne was sleeping so deeply that Calypso was walking all over him and he didn’t even wake up! I couldn’t even wake him to speak to his parents that evening.
Finally, 2009 ended in Hong Kong.
We started out at the ‘secret’ bar in Soho. No sign of a door or a bar at all. But you enter and it is a whole french baroque style bar serving the best dacquires in Hong Kong! The glasses are dipped in chocolate! Yummy!! Then at midnight, some random drunk women came to wish us Happy New Years with a kiss!! Finally the evening or should I say morning, ended up at the cantonese late night food restaurant. We had some instant noodles, lemon tea and toast dripping with butter and condensed milk! Enough to give anyone a heart attack!! But yummy at 3h30 in the morning! Just look how many people were in there!!
And look, we even met royalty!
What a fun way to enter 2010! This year will be a busy one for us. First, renew visas to stay in Hong Kong. Then plan our first trip in Asia-maybe Japan or Singapore. We can’t wait! Work will be super busy, Morne is already working overtime and I will be busy for the rest of the month preparing for year-end.
But we are looking forward to the year. May your year be filled with good health, wealth and happiness!!
